Are you a sucker for reality TV or any shows on the CW like Gossip Girl or One Tree Hill? Take those dramatic settings and put them into a world where America has their own royal family and you have American Royals.
Synopsis:
What if America had a royal family?
When America won the Revolutionary War, its people offered General George Washington a crown. Two and a half centuries later, the House of Washington still sits on the throne.
As Princess Beatrice gets closer to becoming America’s first queen regnant, the duty she has embraced her entire life suddenly feels stifling.
Nobody cares about the spare except when she’s breaking the rules, so Princess Samantha doesn’t care much about anything, either . . . except the one boy who is distinctly off-limits to her.
And then there’s Samantha’s twin, Prince Jefferson. If he’d been born a generation earlier, he would have stood first in line for the throne, but the new laws of succession make him third. Most of America adores their devastatingly handsome prince . . . but two very different girls are vying to capture his heart.
My Review:
“Say you want to make things right, to build a better future. But erasing the past—or worse, trying to rewrite it—is the tool of despots. Only by engaging with the past can we avoid repeating it.”
American Royals… I don’t think I’ve been this consumed by drama since my addiction in 2016 to Gossip Girl. (love you forever Chuck Bass)
American Royals follows the narrative of 4 women: Beatrice (heir to the American throne) Samantha (princess and royal “back up” heir) Daphne (the ex that just won’t give up) Nina (Sam’s best friend and Jefferson’s new bae)
Each narrator gives you a behind the scenes look at the royal family, the scandals that are hidden, and the forbidden love interests.
Being a huge romancte fan, this book also gave me feels for some of my favorite movies. Nina felt like Julia Roberts from pretty woman (but you know, not a lady of the night and in college lol) with her dress mishap. And a little Mandy Moore from Chasing Liberty.
Overall my favorite ARC to follow was Beatrice. Her and Conner’s relationship was just so sweet I felt like I was rushing to know more. A royal guard member and a princess in love!?!?!? Who wouldn’t want more of that forbidden love? although….
Reality if I was proposed to with a sharpie marker ring drawn on my finger:
When Connor does it in AR:
Overall enjoyed this book and excited to start Majesty right MEOW! But if its anything like gossip girl, does that mean all the couples are going to do a swapsies?
We shall see….
